How do I install the drivers for the ScoreDirector base station

In order for ScoreDirector and the Messenger base station to work together, the installation of a driver for the base station and an ActiveX component is required.

The zip file containing both of these items can be downloaded here:

Download this zip file and unpack it on your computer.

Installation of the ActiveX Component

The setup files for the ActiveX component are in the M2 V434 Setup subfolder of the zip file. Open the unpacked folder on your computer and run the setup.exe program.

Follow the instructions of the setup program.

Installation of the Messenger drivers

To install the Messenger drivers, connect the base station to your computer. After conencting, Windows will probably announce that new harware has been found.

Ignore this announcement and open Device Manager through the Windows Configuration screen.

In the device manager you will find the Messenger under the label Other Devices, with a yellow warning sign.

Right Click on the Messenger item and select Update Driver Software from the popup menu.

In the Driver Update wizard select "Browse my computer for drive software".

The following screen let's you select the location of the drivers on your computer. Select the "M2 Drivers" subfolder from the unpacked zip file.

In the next step you will be able to select the Messenger driver and proceed with the installation.

After the driver installation and the ActiveX setup, you can start ScoreDirector. If everything is installed correctly, the lights on the base station should light up, the left one should burn constantly and the right one should flicker.
